RSMo § 610.023 requires action on an access request as soon as possible and by the end of the third business day after receipt. Production can take longer for reasonable cause, but the custodian must explain the delay and give the earliest access time. The three-day rule concerns response or action. It is not a firm production promise.
Call before visiting a public counter. The jail operates continuously, but no official records-counter hours were found. The sheriff’s separate website was intermittently unavailable during research, while the county directory remained a stable fallback. Confirm the current communication route before sending personal identifying details.
Monroe County Court Release Check
Monroe County is part of Missouri’s Tenth Judicial Circuit. Monroe County State Release Transfers
No MODOC prison is located in Monroe County. Even so, the Circuit Court can commit a person held at Monroe County Jail to the statewide corrections system. Once MODOC accepts custody, the sheriff is authoritative for the county transfer event, but not for the person’s later prison release or final state discharge.
Search the MODOC Offender Search by first and last name, accounting for aliases. The search covers active people, including those incarcerated, on probation, or on parole. It excludes discharged offenders. An active parole or conditional-release status can show that prison confinement ended while state supervision continues. An active probation record does not prove a prison stay.
If there is no active result, do not label the person discharged. Use the MODOC Sunshine historical file, Case.net, or a targeted MODOC request. The historical data includes DOC identifiers, supervision and location information, a Completed Flag, and minimum and maximum release-date fields. Those sentence fields are not always the same as an actual physical release timestamp.

Monroe County Jail Release Alerts
